Pennant completes handover of training aids to BAE Systems SDT

15th October 2018 marked the official handover of Pennant’s training equipment to BAE Systems SDT.

BAE Systems Saudi Development and Training (SDT) was first established back in 1994 as part of the Saudi Economic Offset Program. The company is committed to supporting the unique potential of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through its world class training, development and capability solutions.

Delivering a range of internationally-recognized accredited qualifications, SDT are rapidly expanding their portfolio of training and development packages to deliver unique solutions that offer long-term benefits to the Kingdom’s industries and people.

Pennant International Group plc (Pennant) specialises in the design and development of technical training solutions for the next generation of engineers in the defence and regulated civilian sectors.

Pennant has a productive, long standing relationship with BAE Systems. The two companies have been working together in the Kingdom since 1989. The first project involved the delivery of a training system for Tornado aircraft technicians at Dhahran Air Base.

As part of its investment in training, BAE Systems SDT awarded a contract to Pennant in 2016 for the supply of the following training aids:-

  • Generic HandSkill Trainers (GenSkill)
  • Generic Flying Controls Trainer (GenFly)
  • Integrated Avionics Maintenance Trainer (IAMT)

In October 2017 an order for additional training aids was placed with Pennant to support the teaching of aeronautical engineers. This equipment included mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems for practising maintenance activities and a virtual reality procedure trainer for aircraft marshalling and ground handling activities.

BAE Systems SDT are developing new facilities both in the Riyadh area and also in Jeddah in the Western region to enable the significant expansion of world class training and development of Saudi Nationals in both the Defence and Public sectors.

It is expected that Pennant will be a major contributor to this expansion with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BAE Systems SDT for the ongoing provision of high-tech training systems.

Pennant is delighted to support the Kingdom’s vision 2030 and to continue to collaborate with BAE Systems SDT.
